Today:
- Relatively relaxed day at work. Worked the entire day reviewing an IPO offering document, comparing risk factors to older risk factors, reviewing a D&O questionnaire, getting on the phone about underwriting agreements and such. All in, not a bad day at work. Left at 9:30. Worked at home until now. Still going.
- Still smoking. Shame. It's just so easy.
- Still reading Freedom. Still not all that impressed with Jonathan Franzen.
- Ate poached duck eggs, asparagus, brie and baguette. With red wine. Rex Goliath.
- Less angst than usual today about what it is I do with my life. Still hate the law, but for some reason being in charge of the deals and running them frees me up. Still feel like the expectations of the industry are inhumane and badly structured with unnecessarily painful culture. Why is it that our clients, the ones who actually do things, create things, build things, create value...don't share this soul crushing dedication to work? We are facilitators. We are and probably should be treated as utilities. Why is the finance industry so crushing?
- Last night's Jets-Pats game blew. 45-3. Blow.
