So, this changes from time to time. I try something, I fail, I try something else, I fail.
Someday, something will not fail.

I want a vote. REALLY.
I just ran across this image. Before any discussion, could you all please just tell me what way you see the dancer spinning? Just a simple clock-wise or counter clockwise will do. (You will have to click on it. This thing has been driving me CRAZY.)
See? I can't always make it switch at will...I have to sort of stare off into the corner and then sort of drift off, and then I come back and it's going the other way. This thing is driving me crazy. I just can't see how it works.
Yes. That's the fucked up part. Although if you give it enough time, it'll make a "switch" and spin the other way. Don't stare directly at it though...maybe unfocus and look at the shadow at the bottom, or look off to the side...I still have almost no control over switching voluntarily though.
Ha, I posted this in my own journal as well. I locked it though, since I mentioned where I got the image from, and were it to be public, mom and dad would read it and find out you had a blog. I'll let you know if any of my friends have any interesting insights.
both ways. you can get it to switch by looking at the knees down part, and sort of narrowing and then widening your eyes, reversing which of the legs is in the foreground.
Sarah's suggestion of looking at the leg and then "choosing" if it's in the foreground or background when they cross has enabled me to finally be able to switch it at will (although it takes like 5 revolutions of trying to time it so that it actually works...almost like jump roping.) Thanks! Now I don't want to throw myself into a wall.
As for highbrow, not to insult the limited readership of this shitetrap, but...no. Or else catfish post would have never made the cutting room floor.
When it turns clockwise, it's her right hand and right leg that trails the outside (with correct placement of the thumb and everything), when it's counter-clockwise, it's her left hand and left leg that trails the outside (correct thumb again). I still don't understand how it works. But it absolutely does.
I saw that link myself when I first set out to discover this, but I'm not sure that makes sense. It just seems sorta arbitrary.

P.S. Do you really waste your time with this crap? I have a brief you could write.

Wtf, am I the only person who sees counter-clockwise and only counter-clockwise?

Have you been able to get it to switch yet?
And thanks for not posting about my blog, because seriously, I would kill you. Twice.
I finally got it to switch. But now it's even worse, because now she switches direction every half circle.
counter-clockwise.
Jay, I unlocked my post and removed any references to your blog from it. Thought you might be curious to see the feedback I received for it.
Jesus. You got 24 comments in 7 hours. C'mon peanut gallery!
I do appreciate how a lot of your posts are essentially
"You're idiots. It's [Fill]"
followed quickly by
"Oh."
Have you all managed to see it both ways yet?

My blog audience isn't as highbrow as yours.

To be honest, I only know who about half of those people are.
