Nothing about politics is fun anymore. It's a stupid fucking funhouse where decency in humanity gives way to childish ideologies, and reasonable people are forced to watch as their common humanity is vivisected and our vital connections severed.
You are right. I should not make light of it - I did not mean fun. I meant interesting.
In the end, politics fails because, among other things, people are stupid. They'd probably be better off if somebody intelligent were appointed to make all their decisions for them. But we believe in letting people make stupid choices, and then the issue we all become torn on: whether and how to bail them out when they make those choices.
