Amongst the various emails I receive from India from ex-co-workers, children, and other buddies, they've all alerted me to a recent change in Bangalore. Not because anything really happened to it...but merely because Bangalore has gone the route of all of the other major Indian cities and decided to adopt a more Indian name for the city (ie. Bombay-->Mumbai, Calcutta-->Kolkata, Madras-->Chennai, and just for shits and giggles to demonstrate the humor....Trivandum --> Thiruvananthapuram (
pronounced Thiruvananthapuram.))
Thus, from now on, and forevermore, Bangalore will be known henceforth as...
Bengalooru ("boiled beans")
Which is basically, although not precisely, Bangalore-oo. Well done on the poverty, AIDS, and economic policy Bengalooru. Your democracy is functioning well and your priorities are spot-on!
