So, given the fact that I ran a grand total of like, 3 times, I decided to get a new set of running shoes (since my old ones hurt).
After I saw my buddy's Nike+ system in San Francisco, I couldn't help but run out immediately and get my own. So expect to see random things like THIS posted on my blog from now on.
I consider this particular run pretty impressive given my size, weight, and smoking history.

You are going to love this thing. The nike graph is great. Just dont listen to music when you run, it's dangerous.

Wait......why? If you think it's going to make me run more, or something, you're absolutely wrong.
And did you calibrate yours?
Impressive run, I'll have to send you the one we did where I had to walk every 15 min. It looks like the San Francisco streets. I call it interval training!
you are an elderly former smoker, and you're in better shape than me.
i'm not even going to show you my "run" because it's that depressing.
and i don't understand how to calibrate my fancy little nike ipod thing ... i walked for 3 miles to calibrate the walking thing, and it told me i had only walked 1 mile. son of a bitch.
Nik: Ha. I think the wind-treadmill we faced in SF added an extra 5 miles to my endurance.
Mon: Yer goddamn right.
Ha, all those miles run and no calories burned.
I don't have one, Joel does. He calibrated his. I feel like it is slightly inaccurate. Still, it is useful to see how constant your pace is. I think it is nifty even if you only use it once a month.

I went to a map and did a careful charting of our path, and it looks like it was accurate to the .1 mile for a 5.2 mile run. That being said, I'm still going to calibrate it. And then add the weight calculation for calories.
So cool. Too bad the shoes I got actually become slightly uncomfortable around mile 3...that or the huge asian pounding from above simply hurts after about 30 minutes. Just ask yo mom(s).
