Procrastinating.

I surfed over to the Economist and found this nice, reassuring little picture about the food crisis. I also listened to more about it today on the radio, and it's a lot more complicated and perfect storm-y than I had previously understood. Apparently, beyond oil prices ($118 today btw, up from $10 in 1999), there have been two drought years in a row in several agricultural countries with low yields, speculation on the commodities and futures, distortionary diversion of agriculture to biofuels, and substantial increases in demand for meat from China and India. (demand for meat being a problem because it takes 4 pounds of grain to produce 1 pound of chicken, 7 pounds of grain to produce 1 pound of beef, thus driving up prices for grain).

Supa fly! You know what would fix this? Yep. The same thing that fixes homosexuality and Islamofascism: Jesus, deregulation, and free markets.

(I would be writing more about what I'm doing in my life rather than offering useless news summaries, but really I'm just sitting in the library studying tax every. single. day. Happy Earth Day.)

And this must be incorrect. We ran much further at a MUCH higher pace. Something is wrong.
