So...notice that the elderly Chinese couple in the picture look like they bought their clothes from the same 90% off sale that all Chinese-American parents and grandparents buy their clothes. The funny grey jacket, ill-fitting, cheaply designed, worn in an extraordinarily Asian style. Like my grandfather. And the little old Chinese woman with the funny blue jacket. These people were Jiang Zemin and Lady Jiang, the ex-President of China and Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, and head of the military. The most powerful man in Asia. Ruthless. Ambitious. Consorted with the legendary Chinese politicians...and hand-picked by Chairman Mao himself. Standing with the President of the United States in plain sight of the world.
...and still so Asian it's unbelievable. What happened to the era of the bad-ass dictator? Is there any more innocuous looking couple in the world?
