I post these pictures for two reasons. The snails I post because in the course of getting my family history from my mother on the 5 day road trip, it turns out her master's thesis involved chopping up Giant African Snails (pictured below) into tiny pieces so they could be centrifuged to reveal a parasitic worm larvae, which were then fed to rats. My mother proceeded to hold ether rags to the faces of the rats, knocked them out, and vivisected them. (This is why, apparently, she prefers working with bridal dresses. No live rat slaughter. Thus, the snails.
This picture, of "Ton Pig", a Chinese freak of nature, simply terrifies me. The reason, I suppose is the eyes.
Luckily, however, the terrifyingly human and pain-laden eyes are probably not expressive of reality, as this is the stuffed and mounted body, with, I hope, artificial eyes.
